TRAUMA INTEGRATION PROTOCOl - TRANSFERENCE certification course

This hands-on, comprehensive course offers a rare in-depth training with Trauma Integration Protocol™, developer, Dr. Eric Wolterstorff, and Dr. Herbert Grassmann, an internationally recognized leader in trauma resolution and somatic psychotherapy, in which students learn to work with the powerful transferential and countertransferential dynamics that are essential to the healing of trauma.

Approved for 30 NBCC CE hours (Approval No. SP-4991).

  • While the TIP Foundations Training is not a formal prerequisite, it is highly recommended. This training builds upon its core concepts, deepening your understanding of procedural, event, and semantic memory as they appear in transference dynamics.

That said, practitioners with backgrounds in somatic or transference-based work are very welcome, even if they haven’t taken the TIP Foundations course.

  • In-person.

Location: Good Medicine Collective, 231 York Street, Portland, ME

  • 5-Day In-Person Workshop.

This will be followed by 10 two-hour consultation sessions, 2 per month for 5 months (20 hours), for reinforcement.

The full length of the TIP Transference training is just under 6 months.

  • Gain a detailed understanding of and learn how to integrate the four major roles stored in a single event traumatic memory, and how to inhabit and release the four habituated post-traumatic roles stored in sustained or intergenerational traumatic memories.

Identify when clients are lacking integration and are habitually repeating a traumatic role, and when they lack the ability to inhibit or release each role and repeat habituated post-traumatic dynamics in their close relationships.

Practice role-specific exercises that develop insight and learning.

Identify and soften countertransference stemming from the four habituated post-traumatic roles.

Gain the capacity to work effectively with highly charged, negative transference from clients.

Learn to use traumatic transference to encourage post-traumatic growth and deepen trauma resolution.

Be introduced to the six deMause Psychogenic Modes (empathetic capacity levels) and their impact on psychosocial development.

Learn how to resolve development traumas and attachment wounds using somatic attachment therapy and the four posttraumatic roles.

“This course introduced me to a coherent, science and theory based model to facilitate true healing. Both the skills we were taught and the theory behind them have already profoundly affected and improved my practice. And, it helped me recognize remaining wounds needing attention and grasping better what that attention needs to be for my own continued healing journey.”

The Trauma Integration Protocol Manual

$110 | Digital Book

This book is a guide for psychotherapists who work with the impact of traumatic events on individuals and their relationships. It draws on the work of many traditions and experts and is grounded, when possible, in our growing understanding of the brain and the mind. Written as a self-help and skill-building tool for therapists, this manual exists to build one’s ability to stay in rapport with others and to be able to better relate to them.

A recommended resource for all TIP training courses, this manual aids both practitioners and clients in their journey to resolve trauma and its symptoms.

FAQ - TIP foundations

  • You can miss up to 3 sessions and still successfully complete the training. However, live participation is key to getting the full benefit of the course.

  • Only the didactic portion will be recorded when possible. Live attendance is essential—recordings are not a substitute for participation. If you expect to miss multiple sessions, this may not be the right time to enroll.

  • The slides for each week will be emailed to all participants and you can review the slides with a peer who attended the group. If you'd like to meet one-on-one with the instructor to review the material, that can be arranged for an additional fee.

  • The optional, highly recommended Trauma Integration Protocol Manual is not included in the cost of the training. It can be purchased separately from the website.
